International conferences and congresses frequently need to collect the registration fees in advance from all participants.
If you have a national conference this is not so much of an issue, but if you go international you will be confronted with many difficulties to provide easy means for payment to the participant.
There are different possibilities to transfer the participant’s fee to the organizer.

Checks: typically, providing a check means additional fees for the participant, and in most case also additional fees are required when the organizer has to clear the check to receive his money.
Cash: In fact cheap, but insecure and is most time not practicable because the registration fees are required in advance.
Cash transfer with cash paid-out at recipient is one possibility to send money to foreign countries. There are different providers around. The services are well established, but there is also a relatively high extra fee connected to this service. Especially if you have low fees for the conference participants you should carefully check the additional costs.
Money transfers: Transfers from bank to bank are cheap if you stay in the same banking system, the same country etc. From one bank to an other different bank in an other country is usually very expensive. Banks charge relatively high commissions for international transfers of money.
Credit Cards: Those are probably the cheapest payment method for participants, but it is definitely the fasted method. If you own a credit card, use it. Participant submits their order online, and the payment can be instantly authorized. Credit Cards have in most cases very good exchange rates. With credit cards you have transparent costs and don’t have to expect hidden fees.
Money transfer with e-mail: Many of these services like Pay Pal or others are not yet as established as credit cards. Fees can be very low but are different from provider to provider. There also big differences in the different regions and countries. Perhaps we will see in the future a better coverage over all countries as we have it today with credit cards. But for now we recommend to carefully evaluate conditions and local fees.
Summary: As a bottom line, online credit card payments are today the easiest and cheapest way to collect the conference fees for international events. As an organizer, you will use online registration with online payment and you will receive the money in advance.
